Small Business


Given the current state of homelessness in the District and the overarching political landscape of those who have been providing unsuccessful human capitol services for the past ten years with District funds, political barriers have been created to keep small business innovative model out of opportunities to assist the District in providing robust services to homeless clients. It almost seem as they would like to keep folks homeless in order to their pockets lined.
Secondly, there is seemly a commitment between the larger business who are not District based businesses entities to do business in the District (not in the best interest of clients) and the District agencies procurement officers to grant waivers to not fulfill the 35% set aside for District based CBE/SBE in the District. District Procurement Chief Officers submit request for waivers based on untrue information regarding small businesses ability and availability daily. DBH, DCPS and CFSA have terrible histories of this practice. In public arenas they put on a happy face when approach and continue the same practice.
