(Washington, DC) -- The Board of Ethics and Government Accountability (BEGA) will hold its yearly Best Practices Symposium at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), David A. Clarke School of Law Moot Court Room on October 22, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM.  The symposium, "Keeping Government Accountable: Ethics and Open Government Considerations for Leaders and Citizens", will be moderated by Katherine (Shelley) Broderick, Dean of the David A. Clarke School of Law, and will include discussion on revolving door restrictions, nepotism, open data and proactive disclosures under the Freedom of Information Act. The are Darrin Sobin, Director of the Office of Government Ethics; Traci L. Hughes, Director of the Office of Open Government;  Mark Davies, Executive Director, New York City Conflicts of Interest Board; and Waldo Jaquith, Director, U.S. Open Data Institute.  Outcomes from the symposium and input from the public will inform BEGA’s Best Practices Report to be submitted on December 31, 2014 to the Mayor and Council of the District of Columbia.
