After inquiry, I learned that BEGA does not have a press or public information officer. Instead, any questions or requests for information re BEGA are handled by an attorney in the agency or the director. Such a policy is not only wasteful of the agency's limited resources but very surprising given that virtually every DC agency has a designated press and/or public information officer. As you well know, not every request for information should be treated as a foia request, necessitating the review by an attorney or the agency's director.
