Proposed fine increase hearing on Friday 1/8

As a resident and registered driver in the District, I oppose the proposal to increase fines associated with moving violations, and the policy to increase the number of speed cameras in the city. I've not seen any data demonstrating that these speed cameras have had any effect on public safety, but even if they were keeping pedestrians safer, there is no reason to raise the penalty other than to increase revenue for the District because any data that prove that the cameras have improved safety would also prove that the current fines are adequate. The people who live and work in this city pay enough. Stop this greed and crime against citizenry.
