The Board of Ethics and Government Accountability (BEGA) is an independent agency that administers and enforces the District of Columbia government’s Code of Conduct and the laws that promote an open and transparent District government.

The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) is an office within the Board of Ethics and Government Accountability (BEGA) that investigates allegations of ethical misconduct concerning District government employees and officials.

One of BEGA’s core functions is to provide training's on all topics that are covered under the Code of Conduct. We take great pride in offering ethics training's to elected officials and government employees. We believe that knowledge of the District’s ethics rules is essential to government service and preserving the integrity of the government. Our online training's include PowerPoint presentations, FAQs, and fact sheets. Employees are encouraged to use these tools to educate themselves on the current ethics rules.
BEGA is responsible for managing and administering the District’s Financial Disclosure program which involves the collection and review of the nearly 10,000 annual financial disclosure statements submitted each year by District government public officials.
BEGA administers and enforces the District of Columbia’s lobbying registration and reporting program. All persons who receive compensation or expend funds in the amount of $250 or more in a three-month calendar period for lobbying must register with BEGA and file quarterly activity reports.
